Gammie HomeCare ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

We caught on to the trend of the ALS ice bucket challenge! Not just because it was a social media craze that has gone viral but a story that touched our hearts. I saw the story of Pete Frates on ESPN (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCoKB_tU9ng) last weekend and made a vow then and there that we would participate in this challenge and donate to the ALS association. I showed the story to our staff members at the end of last week and many of us were very touched. The story and the struggle is real not just for Mr. Frates but for clients that we work with. We see the fight and determination in these clients but we also see the struggle that they go through along with their family and caregivers. We are glad that in some ways and in some stages of this disease we can work with these clients and their family and caregivers to enable them to live their life to the fullest whether it be through the use of mobility devices like power wheelchairs or respiratory devices like Bi-level therapy.

I hope that this social media craze will continue to raise money for the ALS association so that one day a cure can be found. So, we do our part to continue and call out Brant Fuchigami, Gammie HomeCare Kauai, Maui Memorial Medical Center Case Managers, Hospice Maui, Dr. Kenney Mallot and staff, and Islands Hospice. We hope you take the challenge to have some fun and take the opportunity to donate to the ALS foundation.
